Who we are
It started with a mower.
Patrick Vogt started mowing lawns in his own Parkville neighborhood as a teenager, the same year he graduated from Park Hill High School.
That summer job turned into a company. In 2009 we purchased Rainbow Irrigation and became a complete landscape service, adding sprinkler design and repair to the work. From 2012 through 2016 we served as the outdoor landscape design provider for the Kansas City Symphony Showhouse, five years running.
Today we design and build custom pools, aquascapes, gardens, outdoor kitchens, and the stonework that ties them together. We believe a home extends beyond its walls, and we treat the yard like another room of the house.

By The Blade purchases Rainbow Irrigation and becomes a complete landscape company, adding sprinkler design and service to the work.

Chosen as the outdoor landscape design provider for the Kansas City Symphony Showhouse for five straight years.

Twenty-five years in, we design and build custom pools, gardens, outdoor kitchens, and the aquascapes in between. Every project drawn and built by our own crews.
The studio today
Total Exterior Management
Beyond design and build, we offer a valet service for the whole exterior.
One crew keeps everything outside in order: the pool, the decks, the driveway, the gutters, the shutters, and the drainpipes. It’s the same people who built the space, so nothing gets handed off to a stranger.
